The Old Barn was a remote rural location near Caldbeck in Cumbria with two acres of only grass from which we created our favourite garden ever, but which required a huge amount of effort to maintain, and was still under development as we left
Beechside, our current garden, measures only 15 metres x 10 metres, and we have enjoyed the different challenge of creating a tiny cottage style garden. It demonstrates a change of lifestyle as age and grandchild care commitments take more time!
The allotment came our way by chance. Downsizing the garden makes things easier to manage, but we now suffer terrible 'garden envy' when our Caldbeck garden club organises garden visits! Consequently, when a plot became vacant opposite our daughter's home, we jumped at it but now have a lot to do, and the expectations of two young grand daughters to fulfil.
