This layout has a basic double oval of track, some sidings, an operating travelling post office, station and operating signals, all pre-1964. The whole layout measures 1.8 metres by 1 metre, the base board being in two sections for easier transportation.

The aim is for the layout to be a display for children (of all ages!) to have a go at operating, rather than just being a display to watch.

Hornby Dublo 3-rail and the accompanying rolling and motive stock are so well engineered that they are robust enough to stand up to anything with enormous longevity in-built. 

The accompanying buildings, vehicles and some of the trees are all of the same era, being Dinky, Matchbox and Hornby Dublo products.
